Smooth sailing….

Last couple days have been really good! I would say smooth sailing but the sea is quite confused and is quite rolly!

Our route has taken us pretty South to stay in the wind and the extra miles have paid off, we have been sailing in 15-20 knots winds averaging around 8 knots! In the waves and at night it is quite the ride! Matt is perfecting his downwind driving and got to 11.2 knots of boat speed!
For those of you checking out our speed on Predictwind, we don’t think it is very accurate.
This morning steering was feeling off and we used the GoPro attached to the end of the boat hook to see if anything was caught on the rudder. It was only sargassum, a brown seaweed that is everywhere around us. We furled the Blue Water Runner, backed up and cleared most of it and we were back and running.

Yesterday, Nov 30, we finally sailed more than 200 nautical miles (201) which is another cause for celebration! Did you notice a pattern? We find a reason to celebrate everyday! We are 1000 NM miles from St Lucia and are already talking about when we get to crack open the champagne (regardless it is probably time to put it in the fridge!

Food wise we are eating well! We finished the last of the lettuce, avocados and mangos but we still have lots of fresh produce. As the days stretch we get treats out a little more often, chocolate, orios , fruit juice….
Winds are predicted to get a little lighter tonight which hopefully will mean a good night sleep in between watches.

Not much else new… here are a few pictures from the day.

Henning is teaching Seth how to convert Lat/Long into a decimal number for his SeaLab data collection

we converted the boat hook into a GoPro long attachment to see what was caught on the rudder

checking the video from the GoPro and relieved to find it is only Seaweed
