Thanksgiving and breaking up the routine

Thanksgiving was in Day 4 of our crossing and the winds have been light. There is a swell but we are all handling the motion well!

My meal planning consists of a rolling 7 day plan to keep things varied and allow for changes. Each week I have a ‘special meal’ Or ‘chef’s choice’ … for our first week Thanksgiving is our special meal, I purchased an already cooked chicken and made some roasted vegetables- Brussels Sprouts, red onions, squash cooked with pancetta. No sweet potatoes but an already made potato tortilla  completed they meal. What made it “Thanksgiving’ for all of us was the cranberry sauce! Funny how one small thing can lift the whole meal! For dessert Seth and I made apple muffins ( cooks faster than a cake and therefore is more energy efficient). We had planned on a bottle of wine but we had to switch sails and we were still adapting to waking up for watches at odd hours so we unanimously decided to skip… we did go around the table and shared what we are most thankful for! Friends, family and the opportunity of this trip were the common thread!
We saw that other boats in the fleet celebrated as well and that was fun!
This morning Seth suggested we do something special each day… otherwise there is nothing to differentiate days. He is so right…. We will work on that, starting with making banana bread, a movie night/day (I think I have popcorn stashed somewhere) and some games!
Here are a few pictures to show you what life onboard is like!

nothing wasted... Seth transformed the peels from our apples into 'chips'

Apple muffins

Seth's solar oven.... cooking our thanksgiving meal was energy intensive so he decided we should use the sun instead... his contraption works wonders to reheat baked goods!

Banana Bread to utilize the last of our overripe bananas

We are heading South before going West.... Adam is becoming creative with naming his waypoints, Look at the name of our Active waypoint!

we do a daily weather briefing

Morning watch.... Henning, Seth (cute PJS) and Matt

Seth's cabin ....

baking underway!

thanksgiving dinner...we actually opened our cockpit table and used real plates. Most days we use mélanine bowls on our laps!

On Friday, we were within a few miles from ours friends on JUNE... Seth got on the radio and had a hat with his friend Rémy
